SWITZERLAND November 16, 2006
--
In top form, Tina Turner, 67, confirmed she was
working on a new album during her attendance of the premiere of the
new James Bond film 'Casino Royale' in Zurich, Switzerland.
Turner, who performed the theme song to
the 1995 film "GoldenEye" was asked what she thought of the new song
"You Know My Name" cheekily replied that her own theme was still her
favorite.
When asked about the possibility of
touring again, the world box-office record breaker grinned and said she
wasn't sure.
Turner appeared remarkably youthful, her
advanced years do not appear to have touched her ageless body,
particularly her skin.
Turner was born in 1939 of African
American, Navajo, and Cherokee ancestry and raised in Nutbush,
Tennessee.
Tina Turner's early dominance of rock and
roll, as well as her stage persona earned her the title "Queen of Rock &
Roll," as well as "The Hardest Working Women in Show Business," as her
toured relentlessly and shattered concert attendance records worldwide.
Her 2000 retirement didn't stop from from
receiving the "Women of the Year" award in the United Kingdom in 2005
after her latest greatest hits album debuted at # 2 on the U.S.
Billboard Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the Record Industry
Association of America within a month.
Throughout her remarkable 50 year career,
Turner has received many other awards and honors, including a star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,
induction into the Kennedy Center, and the winner of seven Grammy®
Awards.
Turner's representatives quickly dismissed
reports earlier this month indicating she was becoming an alcoholic
after she was photographed stumbling out of several European restaurants
by paparazzi. During the time in question, Turner and her domestic
partner, German record executive Erwin Bach had been celebrating their
20th anniversary.
Turner and Bach live together in Zürich,
Switzerland and Nice, France.
Billboard Magazine also reported that
Turner is working on a new album. Guy Chambers, who has produced many
records for artists such as Robbie Williams announced during an
interview in October that his next project is Tina Turner. It has been
rumored that the music group Train has also been asked to produce or
possibly write songs for Turner's new album.
Turner's record company, EMI Group (the
largest record company in the world nonetheless) announced earlier this
year that is was brining in its heavy hitters such as Robbie Williams,
Tina Turner, and Norah Jones to help it meet yearend financial
expectations having experienced a 5% slide in revenues.
